Musings of a bon vivant in Hong Kong

Market joys

Whilst waiting for my ghetto dim sum in Mong Kok the other day, my friend P and I came across a fruit and veg market round the corner.

I love fresh produce- the vibrant colours, the variety on display. There’s something comforting about strolling through a market and looking at all the raw fruit and veg and hearing the vendors chatting to their customers and showing off their carrots or cabbages. One particular vendor caught my eye- he was selling fresh tofu and dried tofu. The fresh tofu was lovingly displayed on wooden blocks and wobbled gently as people walked by.

Supermarkets do their best to display their fruit and veg in an appealing way, but nothing quite beats the outdoor scene.
